Redskins already marketing "Beat Dallas" tees

The Redskins Store e-mailed this ad earlier this week. I have mixed feelings about it.

On the one hand, the NFL season only has 16 weeks, and you might as well turn every weekend into its own special event. On the other hand, it's kind of quaint to imagine a rally cry e-mail from your local team that would arrive absent the trappings of commerce.

On the one hand, it's cool to see respect paid to this rivalry that has meant so much to so many Washingtonians over the years. On the other hand, when you've lost three straight in the series, and 19 of the last 25, it feels a little bit desperate to pump up the glorious return of a rivalry to a stadium that hosts that rivalry every single year.

On the one hand, it's actually a fine looking piece of clothing. On the other hand, it'll run you $20, plus, um, $10.95 for shipping if you order online.

On the one hand, this is a hell of a lot better than the t-shirts sold out of boxes outside FedEx Field featuring Calvin the cartoon figure urinating on the Dallas star. On the other hand, until the Cowboys start sending out advertisements for "Beat Washington" t-shirts, I think I'd probably pass.

(Thanks to Reader David for the tip.)

You're off base on this one, Steinberg.

Any and all Calvin peeing shirts were anathema to Bill Watterson. Those shirts/bumper stickers/stickers/etc. are all a despoilment of what Calvin and Hobbes was.

I prefer the "F |_| C K Dallas" tshirts thare are sold outside the stadium by tshirt bootleggers for a cool $5-10.

Agreed with the other posters, the Calvin and the F Dallas shirts are the best, and why pay more than $10 outside the stadium.

I for one am all for T-Shirts on the rivalry. But Gold? No, put that thing on Burgundy!

I actually like the gold and think it will stand out more on tv at a night game.

I also think it was done intentionally and as a tie in to our uniforms. I wouldn't be shocked if this is foreshadowing to our boys rocking gold pants to go with the burgandy jerseys at home this year or at least for this Dallas game which would be awesome!

100% on Bloggy. Rivalry, my a$$, the Cowboys have pwned the Indigenous Peoples the last few years. Also, while Dallas hasn't done much recently, they are at least a better run organization and make the playoffs with consistency.

"Buy 37 club seats and get this t-shirt free!"

And lose consistently once you get there. One playoff win in 14 years means one thing: YOU SUCK!!!!!! The Skins have more playoff wins during that same amount of time. Troll!

"the last few years"

Since 2005

Redskins 5 - Cowboys 5

Redskins 1 playoff win, Cowboys 1 playoff win

they gave away these shirts FREE last year with purchase, as well as 'beat philly' in burgundy and 'beat new york' in grey.

sorry, not a foreshadowing of jersey change, just the remaining shirts from last year. dont be surprised of those 'beat philly' or 'beat new york' shirts show up too.
