Snyder wants to build Redskins museum

Daniel Snyder did a pair of interviews with online media outlets on Tuesday, one with his own staff at Redskins.com and another with the bloggers from Hogs Haven. The latter hasn't yet been published, but the former is up, with a few mildly interesting nuggets.

Snyder was asked about Albert Haynesworth, and his answer was as vanilla as they come.

"I'm hoping that he passes the conditioning test set out, and I'm looking forward to seeing him out there with the rest of the guys," the owner said. "I think that Coach [Mike] Shanahan has a handle on everything here, and things will work out great."

When asked about the fan experience at FedEx Field, Snyder focused on the new videoboards and on tailgating, saying the team "bought some more land and increased our tailgating capacity and our size capacity, and we can really now go further and further."

And when asked about building an indoor practice facility, Snyder said that's "more and more" a possibility, and also mentioned the idea of a Redskins museum, either inside Redskins Park or the practice facility.

"I would love to have a Redskins museum..." he said. "Hopefully in the near future. The Redskins museum to me would be really important. I've been collecting now, since I've bought the team, a tremendous archive. It's in storage. We have some great stuff that would really be fantastic. The history here, the tradition here, the fan base - it would be really exciting to give the fans an opportunity to see all of that."

The museum will be affordable at only $5 admission....but Danny will make you park in a remote lot, pay $30 per car, and take a $5 round-trip bus ride to the museum.

What a great idea for a museum. I hope Dan's ego would allow some of us non-billionaires to put some of our high-end collectibles in the museum.

Please build it at the RFK site with the new stadium thats where it really belongs.

Snyder has excellent business instincts, and it's good that he's now free to use them, instead of getting distracted by football X's and O's. His goals now should be on improving the fan experience, and, eventually, on building a world-class new stadium. Ideally, it would be in the District, be big enough to host a Super Bowl, and have Qwest Field-esque acoustics, to make the crowd noise deafening and provide a home field advantage worthy of RFK Stadium's legacy.

We NEED a museum. It's not like anything in the future is going to be worth remembering.

I actually cringe at the thought of a museum as another money-making enterprise for Snyder and co.

If Snyder is involved with a Redskins Museum don't be surprised if he...

Sells the naming rights, has advertising billboards throughout, blares loud commercials, has overpriced concessions, is amongst the most expensive museum prices in the U.S., has expensive inconveniant parking, puts in a row or two of dream seats in front of the regular museum sponsors, bans vendors from the museum grounds, makes you use a Redskins branded credit card to purchase tickets, installs obstructed views of the exhibits, insists on a section in the museum dedicated to Deon Sanders and Jeff George then hires Marty Schottenheimer as a curator and promptly fires him.

The museum is a good idea. Alot of people would be interested in going to it as long as the cost is kept reasonable. Go to it Danny..........

Hey, a museum would indeed be GREAT! Build a cubicle large enough to house that Neanderthal Hayneworth and have $nyder standing beside him feeding him twenty pound slabs of ham!
I'd pay to see that, wouldn't you........

A Redskins museum is an OUTSTANDING idea. Do it. Do it now! I can't imagine how much fun that would be to visit, especially for us DC Metro expatriates.

Damn people... even communist China is not as socialist as some of the comments on this board.

It is not a must... or an Imperial Command that you have to spend your money to buy any Skins product, which includes the intended museum.

Is the vitriol based on not being able to tag the useless crap in our homes and sell them or have them be listed as museum pieces?

I don't do yard sales, does it mean it should be outlawed?

SNIDER WANTS A REDSKIN MUSEUM ? for what ? so young skin fans can look back at the days when the skins were a ligament football club ? Or maybe its to show off some of the skins new records Dan has set like FIRST TEAM EVER TO CHARGE FOR MINI CAMP ,or FIRST TEAM EVER to sue season ticket holding fans for tickets that the skins have all ready sold and now getting paid twice for. FIRST NFL TEAM ever to ban signs in their stadium only to be laughed at by every outher NFL fan on the planet. the list goes on and im shure will get longer with newer dumb chit.

Loudon County addressed the museum issue some time ago. They wanted to partner w/ ole Dan to put up a Redskins Hall of Fan location out near Redskins Park.

All the museums in DC on the Mall and other places are free. Mr. Snyder, if you are any kind of man, you will make the Redskins Museum free as well.

Hey, I can dream, can't I?
