Andy Reid says McNabb will "get a great reception"

Remember on Tuesday when Donovan McNabb said he thought he'd be cheered in Philadelphia this week? Well, Andy Reid has been drinking from the same tub of celery-flavored insanity.

"They remember the good times," Reid told Brian Mitchell, when asked about Eagles fans. "They might give him the business during the game or something, but he'll get a great reception."

Later, B Mitch asked if McNabb got a fair shake in Philly.

"Absolutely," Reid said. "I think the organization does these different polls around the community, and this guy is loved by 99 percent of the population here. It's that one percent that's that loud voice."

I'm guessing that one percent somehow makes itself heard on Sunday.

(I'm also guessing The Post will have nine trillion more words about it this week, so I'll stop now.)

The vast majority of Eagles fans in attendance will cheer McNabb if the Redskins have individual introductions. He will also be booed every time he makes a play between the whistles because he is an opposing player now.

The truth is: all non-Eagles fans will be listening for boos on Sunday and the first time they hear one it will confirm their bias. McNabb could be booed by five people during introductions and the headlines would read that he was booed on his return to Philadelphia. Technically true, yes, but his reception should be considered warm.

Thanks for the insight, philyrugbyman. I would like to hope you are correct. Just in case though, we have confirmed that they wont be handing out AA batteries at the gate, right? Will CP's mama have to knock somebody else out on Sunday?

Who are these guys kidding? He will get booed all game long. They never loved him anyway
