The Redskins, the Rams and talent

(By Toni L. Sandys - TWP)

I don't need to put any explanation here. Just presenting some post-game quotes. Thanks to CSN Washington and 106.7 The Fan for putting such treasure troves of audio and video online so quickly. Go watch and listen.

Albert Haynesworth: "We didn't focus. You know, we kind of expected Oh, this is the Rams, we're gonna come in here and just beat 'em, but they're an NFL team too, they get draft picks just like we do and they prepare just like we did, and we just kind of let them off the hook. We spotted that 14 points, gave them a little bit of confidence, thinking they can play with us...."

[Here he was asked if they really overlooked the Rams.]

"I mean, you've got to look at their record and you've got to look at the team, and you think they've got a young quarterback and their line's been giving up a lot of sacks. And you might not think you're letting 'em off the hook or Hey, it's just the Rams, but it's got to be in your mind. Because you look at their record, you look at the young quarterback, look at how the line played before, giving up nine sacks before this game, and things like that. So it's little keys that probably make you think that way."

London Fletcher: "We know we're a better football team than we've shown the last two weeks, especially defensively. We have too much talent to continue to let a team move the ball on you, get 30 points or whatever they had. It's just ridiculous."

DeAngelo Hall: "We just felt like we could go out and beat them, we felt like we were better, we felt like we could win our matchups, and that didn't happen. That didn't happen and it was evident from the start....They're a good football team. They're a good football team. They had been playing real good football....In this league, ain't no team's gonna be pushovers. You don't come out overlooking any team, but like I said, we just felt like we were the better team. We felt like, one-on-one, we could beat our guys, and we didn't do that."

Clinton Portis: "I mean, a loss is a loss. I think the Rams got a talented team, and if you look over, I think Bradford, he was deserving of the first pick. I think Steven Jackson is a hell of a back, and they got a lot of key guys. The receiver that stepped up and made so many plays, I had never even heard of him. So they've got talent."

Why do Redskin players have this air of arrogance? If Redskin players checked their paperwork, I'm pretty sure all of them would have losing records in the NFL.

When will the Redskins realize that they are not any better then the bottom feeders of the NFL? They are in that group! Underachievers. Losers. Perennial disappointments. The filler team in the NFC East. Tired of hearing this crap. Let's focus on the Wizards and Caps off seasons instead since that's the best part of washington sports - when they're not playing.

"We didn't focus"??? DUH? NO KIDDING? You would think that after last years loss to the Rams and the defeat at Detroit the skins wouldn't overlook anyone?

WHY WOULD THE "DEADSKINS" THINK THEY ARE BETTER THAN ANYBODY????????

This is truely a dumb team that isn't very good to begin with. Not focusing or not playing hard is unforgivable. The Rams clearly wanted it more and deserved to win!

Yes, the other teams have receivers who step it up and make plays. Otehr teams can let Moss have his catches, and control Cooley and then tehre are no other receivers who step it up.

All those dollars spent on the A & A twins (Hall & Haynesworth) could have gotten us a couple of decent receivers and a couple of good OLinemen.

I'm afraid the Snyeratto curse of how to run a franchise is going to take a lot more than one season to fix.

I guess that you would say that they have a talented team after they beat the crap out of you for 48min. You should have thought that they were talented going into the game seeing that you only beat them 9-7 last year dummies....

Can we please release Carlos Rogers? He is pathetic.

We need to rebuild, start unloading players.

And don't get me started about Heyer. I've seen him get pushed at Union Jacks by someone about 4 foot 5.

Seriously

We got out-coached on both sides of the ball.

When you get beat by the worst team in the league the last 2 years don't that make the Redskins the worst team in the league right now.

The Redskins are a blown holding call away from 0-3. The next four games are extremely tough, and a good result would be going 1-3, making them 2-5.

Fire Shanahan.
