Cooley on Eagles fans
A couple years ago, I collected a whole bunch of stories from Redskins players about what it's like to play in Philly. Jon Jansen's tale of grandmothers mooning him were particularly memorable.
I didn't ask the egg questions this time around, but the Redskins still noticed those fans.
"I absolutely love playing in philly," Lorenzo Alexander wrote on Twitter. "Middle fingers and eggs on the way in, and middle fingers and eggs on the way [out]."
"I embrace the middle finger when I'm in Philly," Andre Carter responded. "And it's suppose to be the city of brotherly love. Lol"
And this, apparently, makes the win a bit more enjoyable.
"Any time you can go to Philly and beat them there, it's so much fun," Chris Cooley said on 106.7 The Fan Monday evening. "I mean, it's so much fun to see those guys pout in the stands. And I like some of the guys on that team and I think they're a good football team, but ffter the way those fans treat us, to go in there, to go in there and get a win, is so sweet.
"It is an amazing place to be in. I mean, my wife can't even wear redskins colors there, she's got to wear a black jacket so she doesn't get assaulted in the stadium. It's unreal. Adding Donovan on top of that, it was so sweet....I've really felt like this has been one of the bigger wins I've had since I've been here."
Three other Cooley interview highlights.
His Touchdown Catch
He said it was a done deal from the time they came to the line of scrimmage.
"We thought we could hit seams over their head," Cooley said. "We called it, 3rd-and-5, and I walked up to the line, nd I wanted to kind of look over at Donovan and yell at him or something, like hey buddy, it's over, right here. When I walked to the line of scrimmage I knew, I knew it was a touchdown. I kind of laughed and looked at the yard line we were on to see how far of a touchdown it was gonna be."
Carlos Rogers's Hands
"If I was Carlos Rogers, I would probably spend about an hour after practice every day catching footballs," Cooley joked. "That's why they play defense, though. That's absolutely why he's playing defense right now and he's not playing wide receiver. I mean, they work on it hard, he just has stone hands. And Carlos is a good defender, Carlos is a guy that plays solid defense, his [pass break-up] percentage is through the roof. Just not picks."
"LaRon Landry's gonna kill someone," Cooley said.
