Testudo, Ovechkin in SportsCenter commercials
Quite a week for D.C. athletes and ESPN promotional spots. First Alex Ovechkin and Semyon Varlamov went up to Bristol to tape a spot, and then Sports Business Journal's John Ourand revealed these images from Testudo's upcoming This Is SportsCenter spots.
And not a moment too soon, if you want to be honest. For the millionth time
the first time, the Maryland mascot has been included in the Capital One Bowl National Mascot of the Year competition, and dude is getting trounced. It's a sort of round-robin competition between 16 national Division I mascots, and Testudo is about to lose his eighth of eight head-to-head battles. He also is last in total votes, way behind such luminaries as Old Dominion's Big Blue and Montana's Monte. This week, he's getting shelled by Cincinnati's completely uninspired Bearcat.
Stand up and support Testudo, people. He's a turtle. He needs your help.
