Snyder: "The franchise is in good hands"

By Dan Steinberg

Daniel Snyder still talks to the media rarely enough that every time he talks, it's sort of news. Monday afternoon, he talked to ABC 7's Britt McHenry during an ESPN event to promote that night's broadcast. The quotes come out kind of unfortunately 24 hours later, but news is news.

McHenry (voice over): "Despite the national media attention and scrutiny of Head Coach Mike Shanahan, today Redskins owner Dan Snyder had this to say about his regime.

Snyder: "We're anxious to play. We're anxious to play. We've got a lot to prove, and I think the franchise is in good hands."

McHenry (voice over): "While Snyder refused to address McNabb's benching, read between the lines, he'll tell you how important this game is."

Snyder: "The rivalry is fantastic, and playing on Monday night is as good as it gets."

McHenry: "A good outcome on Monday can clean the slate in a lot of ways, right?"

Snyder: "A good victory party would be nice."

99.99% of the time I agree, but after yesterday's game, heck after the 1st 10 minutes of yesterday's game and the ridiculous pre-game brouhaha (so much for Shanahan the disciplinarian) and watching what might be the worst defensive performance (yardage wise) in the regular-season history of the 'Skins at work, you gotta wonder...

"That's the problem with our business. A lot of people throw a lot of crap on the wall, and never come back and say 'hey, I was wrong on that.'" -Mike Tirico
