D.C. United rocks the red

We're now less than a year from red becoming the official, near-universal color of D.C. sports.
The Capitals, of course, Rock the Red.
"It's not a secret that I am partial to red," Ted Leonsis said in June, a few months before officially announcing that the Wizards would go back to red in their color scheme next fall.
The Nationals have red all over their jerseys, have a red cap, and a red alternate uniform.
D.C. United has long been the black and red, although black featured a lot more heavily than red. But over the weekend, the club unveiled a third kit, that -- I think we can agree -- seems to have a pretty healthy amount of red. Like, you could take Elmo and splatter him with pomegranate juice and Dorito Dust and cherry extract and calf blood, and he still wouldn't be this red.
"It's a little fiery, right?" Santino Quaranta told CSN's Russ Thaler. "It's a loud uniform. It's a statement. And D.C. United deserves it."
So of D.C.'s major pro sports teams, the only one that's red-less will soon be the Redskins. Which is weird.

I know I'm going to take heat for this, but I for one would not hate it if the 'Skins were to adopt a "red & _____" color scheme. Yes, I know they are the "Burgandy & Gold", but it wouldn't kill me if they weren't.

What color is "Burgandy?" Sounds like it might be closely related to burgundy?
