JaVale McGee's slam dunk practice session

By Dan Steinberg

You know, JaVale McGee might actually have a chance to win this slam-dunk contest thing, or at least to finish second behind Blake Griffin. He's got the creativity part mastered, anyhow.

As CSN Washington documented, McGee whirled through a bunch of possibilities on Thursday, including one where the big man stuck a piece of paper in the net, grabbed it with his mouth in mid-air and then dunked the ball. Replace that piece of paper with a few stacks of $100 bills, and you're really talking.

By the way, J.E. Skeets Tweeted Bodog's odds for the dunk-contest winner. McGee is the third choice at 5-1, behind Griffin (1-2) and Brandon Jennings (5-2), with Serge Ibaka last at 7-1. I'd drop $20 on McGee, for sure.

They have him paired with Chris Webber as his coach. That's nice for the Wizards connection. However, this is probably a good time for him to call his mother since she used to be a Harlem Globetrotter. She no doubt has a few tricks up her sleeve.

funny, Javale signed a shoe deal with some company called Peak. He was wearing them in the video, but he plays games in Nikes, i wonder how that works.

Just what this team needs, another distraction. Time to focus on the fundamentals in practice, not dunks.

Looks like he stuck a blue book in the net. Is that some college kid's final exam or something?

Forget the dunk contest, how about having a 3-5 foot baby hook contest? Or a push guys out of the way with your butt contest.

I'd like to see him win one of those.

Or just compete.

instead of practicing for the dunk contest McGee should concentrate on practicing his defense. I have never seen a player so good offensively, but so soft defensively
