Oddsmakers down on Rex Grossman

(By Richard A. Lipski for TWP)
I've been assuming that Rex Grossman will be the Redskins' 2011 starting quarterback. In fact, I've already planned the jokes for when Grossman inevitably joins Alex Ovechkin and Cal Ripken in Great 8 charity events. He knows the system, he has the trust of the offensive coordinator, and there aren't a whole lot of other options jumping out at me.
Turns out some oddsmakers don't share my optimism. Bodog sent around 2011 Redskins starting quarterback odds earlier this week, and Grossman was not the odds-on favorite.
Who will be the starting QB for Washington Game 1 of the 2011 Regular Season
Free Agent QB: 1-1
2011 Draft Pick QB: 5-2
Rex Grossman: 7-2
John Beck: 4-1
Donovan McNabb: 10-1
And sure, at the beginning of this season just about everyone would have figured John Beck had a better chance of starting in 2011 than Donovan McNabb.
In other Redskins odds, Bodog thinks it's slightly more likely that Clinton Portis will not be a 2011 Redskin than that he will be (-140 to bet no), and thinks it's highly unlikely that Albert Haynesworth will be a 2011 Redskin (-1000 to bet no).

I may be wrong, but those odds don't really ad up.

As Homer Simpson once said about the 1 in 1000 chance a nail might appear in his Krusty Burger: I like those odds!

Isn't Rex a free agent? He's the most likely free agent then.

I would love for the Skins to be 2011 season's "worst to first" team next year, and I just don't see that happening w/ Grossman under center. I'd rather go the patient route and draft for the future... Locker? Newton? Whomever's out there @ #10 spot...
