Dan Snyder calls losing "heartbreaking"

By Dan Steinberg

I will be running quotes from Daniel Snyder's Friday media blitz for the next six months. These interviews are so rare, and must be treasured, like Redskins playoff victories. And now, suddenly, out of nowhere (aka Dallas), there is a veritable bounty of Snyder quotes, including this one, given to WJLA's Britt McHenry, when the owner was asked about losing.

"What's difficult for me as a fan and as the owner of the team is just losing," Snyder said. "It's heartbreaking. It takes me a couple days after a loss to be functioning again, because it's so traumatizing."

That's how I feel after a bad Web traffic day.

McHenry also asked if there were positives from the 2010 season.

"You know, I was reading the Wall Street Journal last week and they did a piece on the 10 most exciting teams of the year, and we were No. 2," Snyder said. "And I was reading this thing and I said, is that true? We had eight games decided by three points or less?"

Now, at least one commenter will point out that being exciting and losing isn't technically a bright spot. And then at least one commenter will say that this is why people don't like to give media interviews, because everything they say will be parsed with a plastic pizza cutter. And then at least one commenter will say something rude about Pittsburghers, and at least one commenter will point out I'm bald, and at least one commenter will call for a Redskins boycott.

"It's hard, because you beat the Green Bay Packers like we did this year," Snyder said. "I think we beat 'em in overtime, and you sit there and say 'They're in the Super Bowl and we're watching like everybody else.' "

True facts.

"They fight hard," Snyder said of his team. "It's a competitive football team, and we lost a lot of heartbreakers, a lot of missed field goals and extra points and a lot of heartbreaking. But we are headed in the right direction."

Looks like Danny is ready to look for a new kicker!

That was the missing piece between the Super bowl and 6-10!

The packers win is so irrelevant, but I am glad to know the delusion starts at the top

Let the football people pick the players. Stop throwing away money on useless players like Fat Albert. Take a page out of Jack Kent Cookes playbook. Gibbs and Casserly. Mr Cooke never meddled.

The difference between winning and losing is just one point. And you're right, this is exactly why some people refuse to talk to the media you crome-dome Pittsburgh-wannabe-reject...

And until the Redskins start winning again, I'm rooting for another team...

So losing is heartbreaking? What a revelation Dan.

How about having you as an owner?
I think that fact is incredibly heartbreaking to 99 percent of Redskin fans.

Please do us a favor in 2011 and seek
medical help. Being a short, delusional,
knucklehead is not in your best interest or the interests of the Redskins and the fans.

Its only a couple hundred bucks an hour and probably your health insurance will cover 80 percent.

Otherwise, we are doomed every year to repeating the same mistakes.......

Doesn't sound like Gano has the support of the owner...

I love it when the Redskins lose. Last year was wonderful, this year even better. Now that idiot is suing a street paper (guess granny wasn't enough for him). Go Caps!

Exciting and losing isn't a bright spot! What does he think he is, a Pittsburgh reject? At least he's not bald like Steinberg. Maybe he shouldn't give interviews knowing commentators are going to parse every word, but I'm once again calling for a Redskins boycott!

(oh crap........never mind then)

Little Danny: "But we are headed in the right direction."

Me: "What freakin' direction is that? Down?"

Dan Snyder IS a loser.
And yes! As a Redskin fan, it IS heartbreaking.

Year after year we hear the same old song and dance that the Washington Football Franchise is headed in the right direction. NOT!! We lost, but a least we were competative. NOT!! Stop the madness, a loser is a loser, whether by 1 point or 100 points. This is why if you don't win enough games (true wins not moral victories of few point loses) you go home at the end of the season - plain and simple. Yeah we showed up for the Dallas game, the Minnesota game, the Indy game. NOT!! You plainly did not win. If you don't win you get one "bright side" - you get to go home before everyone else!!
