Daniel Snyder is cheering for the Packers

By Dan Steinberg

Daniel Snyder became at least the third D.C. sports figure to come out in support of the Green Bay Packers this week. Bruce Boudreau and Chris Cooley did it out of bad feelings for Pittsburgh. Snyder had a different motive.

"You know this, and I think the fans know this: I love this football team," Snyder said during a Friday appearance on ESPN 980's John Thompson Show. "I love this community. I'm dedicated, I'm doing the best I can to support my coach, Mike Shanahan, and my general manager, Bruce Allen. We're in good hands. I'm telling you, we're in good hands with them, and I'm real pleased about the direction of our franchise.

"And one of the things I'm real proud of is we were competitive as can be this year. I'm rooting for the Green Bay Bay Packers so I can say we beat the Super Bowl champs, and we lost a lot of heart-breakers this year, but we fought hard. The men played hard....We're an organization that I think is on the up."

Much of the rest of the interview -- and a subsequent appearance on 106.7 The Fan's LaVar Arrington Show -- concerned Snyder's suit against the City Paper. Those quotes will be handled elsewhere.

This is the most moronic thinking ever. Stupid when people pull junk like this out.

Well you know what Danny, we may have beaten the Packers but they're still playing while the Redskins will be watching the game and while you're suing newspapers and reporters.

Moron.

For all of Lavar's tough talk about Danny he sure kissed tail during the interview and cut Wise off when he started to ask tough questions. Guess Lavar will follow Chris Russell to the sensored media soon.

Wise wasn't asking tough question's he was soap boxing about the team name, you know his 6 minute long rant where he makes up three different names for the term "redskins".

I think I'm tired and done with this organization. And this is coming from a guy who lived and breathed Skins as a kid, who even put up with the last 20 years of mediocrity. I just can't do it anymore. Maybe I'll check out a Ravens game next year, see how purple looks on me. Or just sit it out until Snyder sells.
