George Mason pep band video extravaganza

By Dan Steinberg

Ever since the video of George Mason's Green Machine playing Rage got three-quarters of a million hits, George Mason Green Machine pep band videos have become quite the Rage.

The pinnacle of the craze may have come over the weekend, when Mason played before a large media contingent at the CAA tournament, and the Green Machine rocked out at the CAA Battle of the Bands on Saturday morning. Thus, there are now 9 million videos of the Green Machine I'd like to show you. I'll limit myself to four.

At the top, it's Kanye West's Power. Below, via a variety of sources, it's "Empire State of Mind," "I Wish," and "Dream On." And don't forget to buy your Green Machine gear.

In some quarters among VCU fandom praising anything about George Mason is considered blasphemy but I will do it anyway. I am a Rams fan that sat not too far from the Mason pep band and they were awesome yesterday.

As a Mason fan, I love the Green Machine like no other pep band, but I must return the compliment to the Rams fan (above) and their pep band--your band and student fans brought it all weekend. Well played.
The rise of the CAA continues.
Flute girl was the one with the yellow bandana headband and the green racoon-ish makeup, I think. She seems to have schooled the other girls on her front line; they try to bring it now, too, indulging their inner
soft-mosher/headbanger. Kinda great to see, really.
