George Mason's band plays Rage, in the stands
Remember last week when I asked someone to get me video of the George Mason Green Machine playing its new Rage Against the Machine? Well, Bog friend @tomcblock complied, and less than a week later, the video has been viewed 500,000 times.
How to explain this? Let's turn to England's Metro tab for help
The ferocity of the track didn't dissuade The Green Machine, who play at sporting events in the Washington DC area, from giving the number a wind band makeover, complete with clarinets, flutes, saxophones and trombones. And they really seem to enjoy it. One girl in a red jumper throws herself into the music with noteworthy zest and has attracted dozens of plaudits from YouTube users.
Noteworthy zest!
Anyhow, 500,000 YouTube viewers can't be wrong, so here is the Rage medley being performed at an actual basketball game, by clarinetists and flautists and trombonists in actual Green Machine uniforms. It still slays.
As always, you can find more about the band at its Web site.

I wanted more cowbell. I got more cowbell. I wanted a pimp stick. I got a pimp stick. The only thing missing was the crowd screaming the second set of lyrics from the breakdown...

"bulls on parade" is about the military industrial complex, how industry actually benefits from war by getting contracts. the song suggests that fear of terrorism is used to manipulate the American population into supporting military action. George Mason University was awarded a $7,176,093 cost no fee research and development contract for counter Improvised Explosive Device (IED) research in 2009. the irony almost hurts
