I-95 S lane blocked in MD

Mark Berman

Monday's commute was a pretty rough one for seemingly everyone. In the morning, the roads were clogged and all three MARC lines faced serious delays. In the evening, the roads were clogged, Metro riders endured hours of delays and MARC trains again faced delays (Penn Line train 446 left Washington 115 minutes late last night).

How will things run this morning? We'll keep you posted. Check back with this blog throughout the morning for updates.

Here's what's going on right now:

9 A.M. UPDATE:

-- One lane remains blocked on I-95 South at the Patuxent Freeway.

-- I-395 North is very backed up at the 14th Street Bridge.

8:40 A.M. UPDATE:

-- One lane remains blocked on I-95 South at the Patuxent Freeway in Maryland. A look at the traffic cameras show us that traffic is again on the move, so that area should be better for people hitting the road now.

-- The disabled vehicle on the Outer Loop before Colesville Road has been cleared.

-- And as the Post's Michael Bolden points out, the out-of-sync traffic signals in Montgomery County seem like a flashback to this fun last November.

8:30 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Now just one I-95 Southbound lane is blocked at the Patuxent Freeway in Maryland.

-- Drivers in Montgomery County might be having a tricky morning, according to WTOP: A power outage has caused problems with traffic signals. While the signals work, they aren't synchronized.

8:25 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on I-95 South at the Patuxent Freeway in Maryland -- roughly the halfway point between Baltimore and the Capital Beltway -- is blocking two southbound lanes.

-- I-66 East is still backed up at the Beltway, but the congestion doesn't stretch back quite so far.

-- I-495 North is crawling as you get closer and closer to I-66.

-- I-395 North is still congested at the 14th Street Bridge.

-- The congestion on I-95 North appears to have lessened.

-- There's a disabled vehicle on I-495/Outer Loop before Colesville Road.

8 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The I-95 North lanes have reopened and now the shoulder is blocked before the Springfield Interchange. There are very bad delays on I-95 North stemming from this, so expect big backups if you're coming up that way.

-- I-395 North is very backed up at the 14th Street Bridge.

-- I-66 East is crawling at the Beltway.

7:20 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on I-95 North before the Springfield Interchange is blocking the left lane and left center lane.

-- Traffic has gotten worse on I-495 North leading to Gallows Road, with some pretty bad congestion causing problems there.

6:50 A.M. UPDATE:

-- I-66 East is even slower at Chain Bridge Road.

-- I-495 North is pretty congested leading to Gallows Road.

6:25 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The disabled vehicle has been cleared from I-495/Outer Loop before Georgia Avenue.

-- The I-95 North lanes have reopened at Cherry Hill Road.

-- The disabled vehicle on I-95 South to the west of Telegraph Road has been moved from the main roadway. It's now on the shoulder.

-- I-66 East is starting to get very backed up at Chain Bridge Road.

ORIGINAL POST:

-- A disabled vehicle on I-95 South to the west of Telegraph Road is blocking the southbound right lane.

-- There's also a disabled vehicle in on I-495/Outer Loop before Georgia Avenue, which could slow traffic in that area.

-- It's back! Roadwork on I-95 North at Cherry Hill Road is again blocking two northbound lanes.
