Extra discount for military on Amtrak

Military members on active duty who buy Amtrak tickets around the Fourth of July holiday qualify for an extra 10 percent discount on the train service.

The catch is that the discount doesn't apply to travel this holiday weekend. It applies to any ticket bought from Wednesday through July 9 for travel Aug. 21 through Nov. 12. This is in addition to the everyday 10 percent discount for military members and their families. The extra discount also applies to spouses and dependents.

More information is available on Amtrak's Web site.
