I-270 South partially blocked

Mark Berman

Good morning, commuters! Another week and another set of potential headaches as you set out during the morning rush hour. Here are some things to keep an eye on as you trek out into the heat.

-- An accident on I-270 South at the Beltway is blocking two southbound lanes.

-- A tractor trailer accident on I-66 East at Chain Bridge Road is blocking the right shoulder as well as the bottom of the ramp from Chain Bridge Road to I-66. Traffic can still get to I-66 East from Chain Bridge Road, but the backups on I-66 East are pretty bad.

-- There was an accident on I-395 near Virginia Avenue in Southeast, according to a Tweet from D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services. It might involve a tractor trailer and an entrapment.

-- I-495 North and I-495 South are both still slow heading to I-66, so problems remain in both directions on the west side of the Beltway.

8:25 A.M. UPDATE:

-- I-495 North is still crawling as you approach I-66.

-- I-495 South is still slow to the south of I-66, likely due to leftover congestion from the earlier lane closures.

-- I-395 North is very crowded at the 14th Street Bridge.

-- An accident on I-395 South at Maine Avenue in Southwest could cause traffic concerns, according to a Tweet from the D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

-- I-495 North is crawling on the southwest corner of the Beltway. It's very sluggish heading towards I-66.

-- I-66 East is also slow at the Beltway.

7:35 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The lanes have reopened on I-495 South.

-- I-495 North is pretty backed up heading towards Gallows Road.

-- I-66 East is still crawling en route to Nutley Street.

7:10 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The accident on I-495 South to the south of I-66 is blocking the left lane, left center lane and left shoulder. This is obviously going to cause some delays.

-- I-66 East is now badly backed up at Nutley Street.

6:45 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on I-495 South to the south of I-66 is blocking the left shoulder and left lane.

-- I-66 East is very backed up leading to Chain Bridge Road.

6:20 A.M. UPDATE:

-- There's an accident on I-495 South at Braddock Road, and it's blocking the left shoulder.

-- I-95 North is still slow in Woodbridge.

-- I-95 North is backed up in Woodbridge.
