Rte. 123 ramps realigned in Tysons
Beginning at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, all southbound lanes of the Capital Beltway bridge over Route 123 in Tysons Corner will shift onto a new adjacent bridge. The shift will be in place by 5 a.m. Thursday. As a result, exit ramps to Route 123 north and south have been realigned.
The segment of Route 123 under the Beltway will be closed one weekend this month to demolish the old bridge.
The closure will begin at 9:30 p.m. June 11 and last until 5 a.m. June 14. During that time, motorists leaving Tysons will be detoured to Route 7, and McLean traffic heading into Tysons will be directed to use Georgetown Pike.
The work is being performed by the Virginia Department of Transportation as part of a project to build a 14-mile stretch of high-occupancy toll lanes on the Beltway. The program will also replace $260 million of aging infrastructure, including 58 interchange bridges and overpasses.
