Rte 123 to close at 495 this weekend
Travel in Tysons Corner will be an even bigger headache than normal this weekend as Route 123 closes at the Beltway.
Traffic on the Capital Beltway's outer loop has been shifted to a new bridge over Route 123 and the ramps have been adjusted. The old Beltway bridge is scheduled to be demolished. That will require the complete closing of Route 123 at the Beltway from 9:30 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.
Traffic in and out of Tysons Corner will be detoured. Drivers leaving the shopping areas will be directed to Route 7. McLean traffic heading into Tysons will be directed to Georgetown Pike (Route 193). Expect delays navigating the Route 123 and I-495 interchange.
The following ramps will be closed:
-- I-495 North to Route 123 South
-- I-495 South to Route 123 North
-- Route 123 south to I-495 South
-- Route 123 north to I-495 North
The following ramps will be open:
-- Route 123 north to I-495 south
-- Route 123 south to I-495 north
-- I-495 south to Route 123 south
-- I-495 north to Route 123 north
After the demolition of the old bridge, workers will start building a new one, as well as a HOT Lanes connection into Tysons Corner at the Westpark Drive bridge. Meanwhile, other crews will be working on the Dulles Metrorail guideway piers over the Beltway, which will cause Metro delays this weekend on the Orange Line.

I moved to the North Shore of Boston just in time, last Fall. I missed all the snow you guys got, I do NOT miss the heat, humidity and filthy air and I REALLY do not miss the traffic. The quality of life in the DC region has just become awful. Good luck, folks!

This is going to muck up the Beltway for miles.
