Connecticut Avenue reopened

Mark Berman

Original post: This week hasn't been an easy one on anyone's commute. But the weather has gotten a bit nicer, so that's something. Here's a look at the traffic issues facing commuters this morning:

9:12 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Connecticut Avenue has reopened, according to a Tweet less than a minute ago from the District Department of Transportation.

8:55 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Connecticut Avenue remains closed in both directions from McKinley Street to Legation Street in Northwest.

-- An update on New York Avenue from Michael Bolden: An accident on New York Avenue at North Capitol Street is blocking the westbound right lane. There are police and other officials on the scene. Expect delays if you're heading that way.

8:35 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Connecticut Avenue is closed in both directions from McKinley Street to Legation Street in Northwest, according to a Tweet by the District Department of Transportation. It is closed due to a suspicious package at Connecticut Avenue and Livingston Street.

-- New York Avenue is slow heading into the District from Brentwood Bridge, according to the Post's Michael Bolden.

-- There are still backups on I-66 East at the Beltway.

8:10 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Traffic is still very bad on I-66 East as you head towards the Beltway.

-- I-395 North is also pretty congested at Duke Street and the 14th Street Bridge.

7:45 A.M. UPDATE:

-- I-66 East is still very, very crowded heading towards the Beltway.

-- I-495 North is also pretty backed up heading towards I-66.

-- And for good measure, there's some congestion on I-395 North at the 14th Street Bridge.

7:20 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The good news: The I-66 East lanes have reopened at the Beltway (the accident is now just blocking the shoulder). The bad news: This has created massive backups on I-66 East, so if you're within several miles of the Beltway you probably can't tell the lanes have reopened.

-- The Inner Loop lane has reopened at Pennsylvania Avenue.

6:55 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Cherry Hill Road has reopened in College Park, after being shut down for much of this morning due to an accident investigation.

-- An accident is blocking one Inner Loop lane and one of the shoulders at Pennsylvania Avenue.

-- An accident on I-66 East at the Beltway is blocking the center lane, right lane and right shoulder. This is going to cause considerable delays.

6:35 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Cherry Hill Road is still blocked due to the earlier accident, but the investigation is wrapping up and the lanes should reopen shortly, according to Prince George's County police.

-- An accident on the Inner Loop at Pennsylvania Avenue could cause some delays.

-- I-95 North is congested in Lorton.

6:15 AM. UPDATE:

-- I-395 North is getting pretty backed up at Seminary Road.

-- I-95 North has reopened at Cherry Hill Road.

ORIGINAL POST:

-- Cherry Hill Road at Sellman Road to the 9400 block of Cherry Hill Road is shut down due to the investigation into an early morning accident.

-- One lane of I-95 North at Cherry Hill Road is blocked due to roadwork.
