Area delegation to meet with NTSB head
Members of the Washington D.C. Area Congressional Delegation will meet with the head of the National Transportation Safety Board to hear more about the panel's findings and recommendations on last year's Metrorail crash.
The meeting with board Chairwoman Deborah A.P. Hersman is scheduled for Friday.
The board issued findings Tuesday in its investigation of the crash that killed nine people and made recommendations for how to avoid similar tragedies. The board blamed a faulty electronic circuit and Metro's safety culture.
Rep. Steny Hoyer says it's critical that Metro riders have confidence in the system's safety. Hoyer says he'll work to ensure that Metro has the resources to take action on the recommendations.
Sen. Barbara Mikulski says she wants to hear more details about replacing Metro's older cars.
