Car on empty Orange Line train derails
The rear car of a four-car Metro train derailed in the New Carrollton yard this evening, said Metro spokesman Reggie Woodruff.
The train was coming out of a maintenance shop and had no one aboard except for the operator, he said. No one was injured in the incident and there was no immediate damage assessment for the rail car, he said.
Under standard Metro procedure, the train operator will undergo routine drug and alcohol testing and be placed on leave pending the investigation.
