Headaches on the horizon

Construction updates | D.C. area travel tips

The weather should not interfere with your travels tonight and tomorrow morning. The Capital Weather Gang says we're in for only an isolated shower -- nothing like the storms of previous evenings. Here are a couple of highlights from the D.C. region's construction projects.

Dulles Access Road
Drivers westbound on the Dulles Access Road will encounter traffic disruptions near the Wiehle Avenue bridge because of lane shifts Wednesday night and occasionally at night for two weeks.

The Dulles Metrorail project is shifting lanes to the right to expand the construction zone for the Wiehle Avenue Metro station in the median. The work begins at the Wiehle Avenue overpass and will taper back to the left after the work zone ends.

Similar shifts were made in the eastbound lanes several weeks ago.

Telegraph Road/Beltway
Starting at 9 p.m. Wednesday, workers on the Wilson Bridge project will narrow both loops of the Capital Beltway to two lanes to accommodate concrete placement on the new ramp from the outer loop to northbound Telegraph Road. The Beltway will be back to normal by 5 a.m.
