Headaches on the horizon

Construction updates | D.C. area travel tips

There's a slight risk of a storm Tuesday night, but mostly, travelers will encounter warm and muggy conditions in the D.C. area, the Capital Weather Gang says. Drivers may also encounter some delays thanks to these road projects:

-- Westpark Drive bridge will close at Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) for bridge deck work. Traffic will be directed to Tysons Boulevard to Ring Road, or vice versa.

Dulles Metrorail project

Ohio Drive
There's no night work scheduled this week along Ohio Drive in the District, where the National Park Service and the Federal Highway Administration are rebuilding the roadway.

Kenilworth Avenue
Watch for overnight lane closings through Friday night/Saturday morning on Kenilworth Avenue (D.C. 295) where the District Department of Transportation is rebuilding the Eastern Avenue Bridge. Two lanes will be closed from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., so finding an alternative route would be best. Through traffic will be directed to use the service roads. Workers will be installing the new, pre-cast bridge structure above Kenilworth Avenue.

Rockville Pike
Work occurs most nights at the pike's new interchange with Randolph and Montrose roads. From 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night through Thursday, watch for double lane closings on southbound Rockville pike between Randolph and Montrose roads and Old Georgetown Road.

Baltimore Avenue
Expect to see single-lane closings along Baltimore Avenue (Route 1) between East-West Highway (Route 410) and Albion Road, near Prince George's Plaza, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday night.
