How were the HOV lanes today?

Mark Berman

If you took an HOV lane to get to work today, did it feel a little empty to you? A little less congested than usual? If so, that might have something to do with the 713 citations handed out Wednesday as part of an HOV crackdown.

So let us know: were your lanes less crowded? Did traffic lessen yesterday but pick back up today? Did you, or someone you know, opt against using the HOV lanes today? Tell us about it in the comments below, or e-mail us at

Yes, it's Friday, you really can't count this.

Commuters: Good call about the day of the week. We'll revisit this on Monday and see how the lanes look. Keep an eye out and let us know what you see on Monday morning!

I doubt it will have changed much on I-66, anyhow. The cops enforce HOV there a few days per week, anyway. Thursday was nothing special.

They still suck on I-66. I have yet to figure out why we have HOV lanes on 66 when they are the SLOWEST lane in the Fairfax area. Metro needs to be extended and we need more HOV lanes on 66 like 95 has.
