Major VRE delays

9 A.M. UPDATE: Amtrak train 174 has departed Quantico. Train 310 is at Quantico now and will leave soon, followed by train 312.
ORIGINAL POST:
Riders of the VRE's Fredericksburg Line are going to be a bit late to work today. Train 310 (scheduled to depart Fredericksburg at 7:10 a.m.) stopped south of Quantico earlier this morning with mechanical problems. It's going to couple with train 312 (scheduled to depart Fredericksburg at 7:40 a.m.), but this is going to add a 30 minute delay to both trains. Train 310 is already 45 minutes behind, while train 312 is 15 minutes late.
However, your VRE ticket will get you onto the Metro at the Franconia-Springfield and King Street stations. And Amtrak train 174 will make all VRE stops. It's passing by the disabled train and should arrive at Quantico shortly. it's going to arrive ahead of VRE trains at all of the remaining stations.

VRE is having an unusually large number of problems with delayed trains this week. The train I normally take in the morning has been delayed every day this week, and VRE management has not issued any communications with explanations or apologies for the continued delays. It would be good to hear from VRE, as to the cause of what are now chronic problems.
