MD 410 blocked in Chevy Chase

Mark Berman

Good morning commuters! Another day, another set of potential headaches as you try to get to work. Check back with this blog throughout the morning rush so you know what to expect.

8:35 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The downed tree is still blocking MD 410 in both directions at Jones Mill Road/Beach Drive in Chevy Chase, Md.

-- I-495 North is backed up at Arlington Boulevard.

-- I-395 North is still pretty congested at the 14th Street Bridge.

8:20 A.M. UPDATE:

-- More information about the downed wire in Arlington: The wire is near the Military Road and 31st Street North intersection, according to the county police. And they believe Military Road will be closed at that intersection for a fair portion of the day, so avoid that area today.

8:05 A.M. UPDATE:

-- I-270 is all clear.

-- A loose electrical wire on Military Road in Arlington is causing ART bus 53 to detour. This could cause delays for other drivers in that area, so avoid Military Road if you can.

7:50 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on I-270 South before Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg is blocking one southbound local lane and the shoulder.

-- I-66 East is very, very slow at Chain Bridge Road. The disabled vehicle at Lee Jackson Memorial Highway has been moved, but the congestion remains.

-- I-395 North is very slow at the 14th Street Bridge.

-- And yep, that tree is still blocking MD 410 in Chevy Chase.

7:30 A.M. UPDATE:

-- A disabled vehicle on I-66 East at Lee Jackson Memorial Highway is blocking the left lane. I-66 East is already backed up at Chain Bridge Road, so this is going to exacerbate that congestion.

7:05 A.M. UPDATE:

-- I-66 East is still pretty slow at Chain Bridge Road.

-- There was an accident in the 3000 block of Minnesota Avenue in Northeast, so that could cause traffic problems in the area. (Via the D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Twitter.)

6:40 A.M. UPDATE:

-- A water main break on 18th Street and Wyoming Avenue in Northwest could create some traffic problems in that vicinity.

-- MD 410 is still blocked by the downed tree.

6:10 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The downed tree is still blocking MD 410 in both directions.

-- The I-66 East lanes have reopened, but there are residual backups creating major congestion.
