Update 6:30p.m.: Commenter serephina21 calls our attention to this picture:
Original post:The Outer Loop is crawling on the southbound portion between the I-270 spur until just north of Rte. 267 after a tractor-trailer carrying a mobile home overturned, leaving the oversized load on the righthand lane.
Three lanes are open, and police estimate that the scene will be mostly cleared with one lane unblocked by about 6p.m.
The tractor-trailer was destroyed so badly that it could not be towed; it will have to be dismantled and hauled away. Dumpsters are on the roadside and being filled with pieces of the mobile home's wreckage.
"According to a witness, a wide-load tractor-trailer hauling a prefabricated house... swerved to miss another vehicle that suddenly changed into its travel lane. The wide-load tractor-trailer swerved to the right and ended up striking a Ford F-450. The driver of the wide-load vehicle then lost control causing the vehicle to jack-knife in the far right lane. The tractor portion of the vehicle overturned and a portion of the house fell into the roadway," police said, noting that charges are pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
