Beltway lane reopens in VA

Mark Berman

Good morning commuters. It's going to be a slick ride to work this morning, owing to the overnight storms. While the rain may have passed, the roads are still going to be wet as people head out for the morning rush. Here's a look at some headaches that might impact your commute:

8:50 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The left lane of I-495 North/Inner Loop has reopened at the Little River Turnpike. There is still congestion on that southwest corner of the Beltway, leading up to I-66.

-- There's debris on I-495/Outer Loop at Seminary Road in Silver Spring.

-- I-95 North is backed up at the Springfield Interchange.

8:35 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The tree on Military Road at 16th Street has been moved, and all lanes are clear.

-- But a different fallen tree is now blocking Broad Branch Road at Brandywine Street in Northwest (just east of Van Ness).

-- An accident on I-495/Outer Loop before Connecticut Avenue is blocking both shoulders.

8:15 A.M. UPDATE:

-- I-66 East is backed up at the Beltway.

-- An accident on I-95/Outer Loop north of Pennsylvania Avenue is blocking both shoulders.

7:45 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The traffic on I-495 North is still pretty heavy.

-- I-395 North is still very slow at the 14th Street Bridge.

-- I-66 East is very congested at Chain Bridge Road.

7:15 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The I-270 Southbound lane has been reopened.

-- The traffic on I-495 North/the Inner Loop is still pretty bad heading to the Little River Turnpike.

-- I-395 North is also a mess this morning, with bad congestion leading to the 14th Street Bridge and King Street.

6:50 A.M. UPDATE:

-- A disabled vehicle is blocking one lane of I-270 South before Gude Drive.

-- The standing water on I-495 North is causing lots of congestion on the southwest corner of the Beltway.

-- I-395 North is pretty congested leading to King Street.

6:30 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Standing water is still blocking the left lane of I-495 North at the Little River Turnpike. There are backups leading to this spot on the Beltway, so expect delays.

-- I-66 East is already congested at Chain Bridge Road.

-- A downed tree is blocking the westbound lanes of Military Road at 16th Street in Northwest, according to the District Department of Transportation.

6:05 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The Outer Loop lanes have reopened after Georgia Avenue.

-- The disabled vehicle has been cleared from the I-495 North ramp to Arlington Boulevard.

-- Standing water is still blocking the left lane of I-495 North at the Little River Turnpike.

ORIGINAL POST:

-- A disabled vehicle is blocking the right lane of the ramp from I-495 North to Arlington Boulevard/Route 50.

-- An accident is blocking two Outer Loop lanes before Georgia Avenue (it was blocking one lane earlier this morning).

-- Standing water on I-495 North is blocking the left lane at the Little River Turnpike.

-- The Post's Mike McPhate reports several other things to look out for this morning.
