Metro Transit Police are looking for Tanveer Fayyaz, 31, an employee of Regency Cab, in connection with an alleged sexual assault reported by a MetroAccess customer. Regency Cab is a subcontractor for MV Transportation, which provides MetroAccess service for the disabled for Metro.
Officials said Wednesday that a MetroAccess customer reported that she had been sexually assaulted by a driver for the paratransit service on July 8. The police identified the driver during a press conference Wednesday as Fayyaz. Fayyaz is wanted on charges of second-degree rape and two counts of second-degree sexual offense, Metro said.
Fayyaz, described as 5'10" and 180 pounds, lives in the Gaithersburg area, Metro said.
People who know Fayyaz's whereabouts are asked to call Metro Transit Police at 202-962-2121 or to call 911.
