13th St NW reopens

Happy Friday, Washington area. After the extreme warmth of the last few days, today it'll be a relatively brisk low-to-mid 90s. Since we all can't change our morning commute to involve a drive down South Beach, here's a look at the headaches facing commuters this morning. [This post will be updated.]

9:30 a.m. Update: McPhate reports that it was a bag of garbage. The streets are reopening.

9:10 a.m. Update: There is a report of a suspicious package in the area. The Post's Mike McPhate is headed to the scene.

9 A.M. UPDATE:

Police activity has closed 13th Street between K and Eye streets in Northwest.

8:50 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Same things: I-495 North is slow at I-66, I-395 North is crowded at the 14th Street Bridge and Duke Street.

8:30 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Same problems in Virginia: I-395 North at the 14th Street Bridge and I-495 North leading to I-66.

8:05 A.M. UPDATE:

-- I-395 North is even slower at the 14th Street Bridge.

-- I-495 North is also delayed at I-66.

7:40 A.M. UPDATE:

-- I-395 North is still sluggish at Duke Street and the 14th Street Bridge.

-- There's some congestion building on I-495 North leading to Gallows Road.

-- MD 295 North has reopened.

7:15 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The right lane of I-95 North has reopened, and now just the right shoulder is blocked in Lorton.

-- I-395 North is getting pretty congested at the 14th Street Bridge and several other points leading up to it. At Duke Street and King Street, it's very congested.

-- An accident on MD 295 North at Powder Mill Road is blocking the right lane and right shoulder.

6:50 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on I-95 North is blocking the right lane and right shoulder in Lorton.

-- I-395 North is backed up at Duke Street.

6:25 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Outside of the water main break, things are still quiet.

6:05 A.M. UPDATE:

-- A water main break on 2700 Pennsylvania Avenue in Southeast could cause traffic headaches.
