Traffic delays in Va. for Byrd funeral
Arlington County police plan to block or limit access to several roads Tuesday to accommodate the funeral of West Virginia Sen. Robert C. Byrd.
Byrd's funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Memorial Baptist Church in Arlington, according to his Web site. The service is open to the public, but seating will be limited.
For the funeral, police plan to limit access to the 3400-3600 blocks of North Glebe Road. Parking on North Abingdon Street, North 36th Street and North Dittmar Road will be reserved for those attending the funeral.
Starting at about noon, there will be rolling roadblocks as the funeral procession makes its way from the church to Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington for a private interment.
The funeral procession will temporarily affect southbound North Glebe Road, eastbound North Pershing Drive, southbound North Irving Street and westbound Arlington Boulevard.
