Va. sets high-speed rail hearings

Virginia is set to hold hearings on plans for high-speed rail between Richmond and Raleigh, N.C.

The proposed line is a section of a Southeast corridor that will eventually connect Charlotte, N.C., to the District with trains traveling at top speeds of 110 miles per hour.

Hearings on the Southeast High Speed Rail Corridor will be held in Richmond on Tuesday, in Petersburg on Wednesday and in McKenney on Thursday. Open houses are set for 5 p.m. and the hearings for 7 p.m.

The Richmond hearing will be at the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. In Petersburg, the hearing will be at Union Station. The McKenney meeting is set for Sunnyside Elementary School.
