Good morning all,
Welcome back to work. Here is a look at the Monday morning commute so far:
8:30 AM
UPDATE
--The disabled vehicle has cleared from I-270 S.
8:15 AM
--Little River Turnpike eastbound at Wakefield Chapel Road in Annandale is closed due to an accident.
8 AM
--A disabled vehicle is being reported on I-270 S. before Falls Road.
UPDATE
--Traffic lights are working again on Route 123 at Beulah Road in Vienna.
7:40 AM
Metro is increasing security Monday to prepare for the first day of school in the District. More police officers will be at the stations and riding the rails to monitor students. The extra security comes after recent brawls involving youth at the Gallery Place and L'Enfant Plaza stations.
UPDATE
--The accident has cleared on southbound Georgia Ave. at Norbeck Road in Rockville.
7:15 AM
--Traffic lights are flashing on Route 123 at Beulah Road NE in Vienna.
7 AM
--An accident is blocking the right, southbound lane on Georgia Ave. at Norbeck Road in Rockville.
6:30 AM UPDATE
--The right lane is still blocked on S. Dakota Ave. NE because of the water main break.
6 AM
--The right lane is blocked because of a water main break on S. Dakota Ave. NE inbound between 24th St. and Rhode Island Ave. NE. Water is gushing into the roadway. One lane gets by to the left.
5:40 AM
--Commuters traveling northbound on the 14th Street bridge will notice a new traffic pattern Monday due to construction.
A barrier blocks the center, left side on the southern half of the bridge. Three lanes have shifted to the right of the barrier and one lane has shifted to the left.
--The right lane is blocked because of an accident northbound on I-495 at New Hampshire Avenue.
