JetBlue passenger released

3:50 p.m. Update: The passenger was released by mid-afternoon Friday, said airports authority spokesman Rob Yingling. No charges were filed.

3 p.m. Update: The passenger may have had an anxiety attack, according to a security official familiar with the incident who spoke on condition of anonymity because there had not been an official medical diagnosis.

JetBlue was already in the news this week when flight attendant Steven Slater went onto the public address system Monday on a plane at New York's Kennedy Airport after a flight from Pittsburgh, cursed out a passenger he said had treated him rudely, and then slid off the plane on an emergency slide.

Original post: JetBlue Airways says a flight from Boston to the Dominican Republic had to land in the Washington area because of an unruly passenger.

JetBlue spokesman Mateo Lleras says Flight 691 was diverted to Washington-Dulles International Airport because of an unruly customer and landed at 1:13 p.m. Friday.

Lleras says the Transportation Safety Administration and local law enforcement were notified and the unruly customer was taken into custody. He says he can't be more specific about what the passenger was doing.

No one was hurt. Lleras says the flight continued to Santo Domingo just before 2 p.m.

I have AWFUL anxiety attacks before flying. I take Xanax AND tell the flight attendants, who are always so sweet and attentive after they know... Simple precautions can prevent these situations!

Man up! Have a beer or two before you get on the plane!
