14th Street NW reopens after leak

11:45 A.M. UPDATE:

14th Street NW has reopened.

10:35 A.M. UPDATE:

14th Street NW remains closed between Park Road NW and Newton Street NW, according to the Post's live traffic map.

8:35 A.M. UPDATE:

A gas leak in the 3400 block of 14th Street in Northwest is closing 13th and 14th streets. 13th Street is blocked between Monroe and Park streets, while 14th Street is blocked between Park and Newton streets. Expect big delays around Columbia Heights.

8:20 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The Inner Loop is still very crowded leading to I-66.

-- And I-66 East has actually improved heading to the Beltway. It's still congested, but it's lessened.

8 A.M. UPDATE:

-- I-66 East is very packed at the Beltway.

-- I-395 North remains sluggish moving towards the 14th Street Bridge.

7:40 A.M. UPDATE:

The Inner Loop/I-495 North is very slow leading to I-66, causing sluggishness around the southwest corner of the Beltway.

7:15 A.M. UPDATE:

The Inner Loop accident near Annapolis Road has been cleared up.

7 A.M UPDATE:

-- Traffic cameras show pretty bad congestion at the intersection of Eastern and Kenilworth avenues in Northeast near the Maryland border.

-- Ditto the Inner Loop near New Hampshire Avenue, which looks pretty slow.

6:35 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The Inner Loop accident remains on the shoulder before Annapolis Road. Expect potential delays if you're driving through that area.

-- I-395 North is already pretty crowded at the 14th Street Bridge.

6:15 A.M. UPDATE:

The accident on the Inner Loop is on one of the shoulders before Annapolis Road. It could still cause delays in the area.

ORIGINAL POST:

Yesterday morning's very wet commute was filled with flooding, closed roads and stranded motorists needing rescue. This morning's commute looks like it'll bemuch less wet, though there might be some lingering problems from yesterday. Wet roads and the potential for flooding remain a problem. Check back here throughout the morning for updates on the morning rush.

-- Canal Road has just reopened after being closed overnight between Clark Road and Reservoir Road due to a fallen tree, according to the District Department of transportation.

-- An accident on the Inner Loop before Annapolis Road could slow traffic.

-- There's an accident on I-295 near Howard Road involving a rollover.

-- A water main break in McLean is impacting the areas from Springhill Road east to the Beltway and Lewinsville Road north to Georgetown Pike, according to Fairfax Water. WTOP reports that crews are working on it at Swinks Mill Road.
