Md. Route 5 reopens
3:45 P.M. UPDATE:
Route 5 has reopened.
2 P.M. UPDATE:
Two lanes are open northbound and two lanes are open southbound, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation.
12:22 P.M. UPDATE:
The accident involves an open-bed tractor-trailer that reportedly overturned. Southbound lanes slow before the Capital Beltway. Northbound traffic slows before Allentown Road.
Original post: A tractor-trailer accident on Route 5 just south of the Capital Beltway in Prince George's County is blocking both north- and southbound lanes. According to the state of Maryland, three southbound lanes are blocked and two northbound lanes are blocked. Stay to the right in each direction.
