Headaches on the horizon
Construction updates | Travel tips l Capital Weather Gang
Travelers will find the day's heat diminishing quickly tonight and the clear weather will continue through Thursday. Here are some details about a couple of projects in Virginia and Maryland that could slow down drivers overnight.
Outer loop closing at I-66
Starting at 9:30 p.m. and lasting two weeks, the outer loop at I-66 will close every night except Sundays for demolition of the old I-66 eastbound bridges over the Beltway. Workers will set up lane closures at 9:30 p.m. By midnight, all lanes on the outer loop will be closed. The I-66 westbound ramp to the outer loop and the left-side I-66 eastbound HOV ramp to the Beltway will also be closed overnight with detours.
Rockville Pike interchange
Watch for double lane closings southbound on Rockville Pike between Randolph and Montrose roads and Old Georgetown Road from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
