Inner Loop very slow in VA
9 A.M. UPDATE:
-- I-495 North is still very, very backed up heading to I-66.
-- A disabled vehicle is blocking the right lane of I-95 North in Occoquan.
8:30 A.M. UPDATE:
-- The two U.S. 29 South lanes have reopened.
8 A.M. UPDATE:
-- Two lanes of U.S. 29 South are still blocked before Briggs Chaney Road in Fairland.
-- I-495 North remains really, tremendously, spectacularly backed up heading towards I-66.
7:40 A.M. UPDATE:
-- Due to a vehicle fire, two lanes of U.S. 29 South are blocked before Briggs Chaney Road in Fairland.
-- The Inner Loop lanes have reopened just north of I-66. However, massive delays remain on I-495 North heading towards I-66.
-- Similarly, the I-66 East lane has reopened before the Beltway. That being said, it's still an incredible slog on I-66 East approaching the Beltway.
7:15 A.M. UPDATE:
-- The disabled vehicle on I-66 East shortly before the Beltway has been moved from right center lane. But there are already bad backups on I-66 East heading to the Beltway.
6:55 A.M. UPDATE:
-- The accident on I-495 North is still blocking the right center and right lanes, as well as causing backups that stretch well past the Braddock Road exit and nearly reach the Springfield Interchange.
-- A disabled vehicle on I-66 East shortly before the Beltway is blocking the right center lane.
-- An accident on I-95 South at Cherry Hill Road is blocking one of the shoulders.
6:25 A.M. UPDATE:
-- The accident on I-495 North just north of I-66 is now blocking the right center lane and right lane. Expect big delays heading towards I-66.
-- A disabled vehicle on I-95 South just before the Springfield Interchange is blocking the right lane.
There should be at least one more morning commute with nice weather, so enjoy it before the 90 degree temperatures return. Here's a look at all of the traffic headaches facing commuters this morning (and this post will be updated throughout the morning).
-- An accident on I-495 North/the Inner Loop is blocking the right lane just north of I-66.
-- The two mile extension to the Fairfax County Parkway should be fully open to traffic by this morning, when the southbound lanes are scheduled to open. The northbound lanes opened over the weekend.
-- DC Water is currently repairing a broken 8 inch water main on P Street in Southeast between 29th and 30th streets.
