Major lane shift in Tysons Corner

Road construction in Tysons Corner has become a way of life for drivers in the area, but patterns are about to change again.

According to officials with the Dulles Rail Project, a major shift of eastbound Route 7 will happen Thursday night in in the area between the Sheraton Premiere Hotel and Best Buy. The shift will require staggered lane closings for paving and striping work on beginning at 9:30 Thursday night. The shift is scheduled to be completed by 5 a.m. Friday.

Officials warn that that shifts will be approximately 40 to 60 feet to the right of current lane locations to make room for the construction of the Tysons West Metro Station in the media of Route 7. A work zone in excess of 50 feet will be in place for the next three years in the location between Springhill Road and Westwood Center Drive.
