Red line on time after package scare

Update: Service is back on track.

Original post: The New York Avenue and Union Station Metro stops were briefly closed tonight, and passengers evacuated from the Union Station platform, after a suspicious package was reported near the New York Ave Station. The situation was determined to be clear.

The fare gates at the busiest station in the system were opened and station managers instructed those waiting for trains to leave, reports the Post's Lori Montgomery. The Union Station shops and other facilities remained open.

Residual delays continue on the Red Line, according to Metro.

There are also delays on the Green and Blue lines.
