Alexandria lowers parking fees
Parking meters in Old Town Alexandria will soon drop 50-cents to $1.25 an hour until new multi-space parking meters are installed, thanks to action taken by the Alexandria City Council Tuesday night.
Final city council action is expected Nov. 13, following a public hearing.
The new Old Town rates also will be in effect Saturdays and holidays. The new multi-space meters will accept various forms of payment.
The new rates do not apply to the meters in the Carlyle area. Those meters will remain at $1.75 per hour.
