Westbound NY Ave jammed up

Mark Berman

8:50 A.M. UPDATE:

-- A school bus accident on Route 50 westbound at Exit 23 (in Parole, just west of Annapolis) is causing backups for westbound commuters, reports the Post's Ashley Halsey III. He reports that two westbound lanes are shut down and authorities are on the scene investigating.

-- Westbound New York Avenue is backed up nearly to the District/Maryland border, from what we can see on traffic cameras.

-- An accident is blocking one lane of I-95 South after Indian Head Highway.

-- Traffic on I-95 North has eased considerably near Woodbridge.

8:15 A.M. UPDATE:

An accident on eastbound Braddock Road near Ox Road is blocking the left lane.

8 A.M. UPDATE:

I-95 North is incredibly backed up heading to Woodbridge.

7:40 A.M. UPDATE:

I-66 East is very, very backed up en route to the Beltway. Similarly, I-495 North is very backed up en route to I-66.

7:25 A.M. UPDATE:

Westbound New York Avenue is backed up as far back as Montana Avenue, reports the Post's Michael Bolden. Avoid the area if you can! Try taking South Dakota Avenue to Rhode Island Avenue and heading inbound that way.

7:10 A.M. UPDATE:

An accident at 4th Street and New York Avenue in Northwest is blocking three lanes of westbound New York Avenue. With only one lane getting by, expect big delays.

6:55 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The Inner Loop/I-495 North is getting very, very slow near Braddock Road.

-- The left lane on the Outer Loop has reopened near Route 123.

6:35 A.M. UPDATE:

NBC4 is reporting that earlier issues in the Pentagon south parking lot were resolved. Earlier this morning, they reported that the south parking lot was closed due to police activity, and now they are reporting that it was due to something that sounded like gunfire. However, the parking lot has been reopened and the area given the all clear, so if you drive to the Pentagon you should be unaffected.

6:20 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The Outer Loop's left lane remains blocked at Route 123 by an accident.

-- An accident on the Inner Loop before Colesville Road is blocking one of the shoulders.

-- The roadwork on I-95 has been cleared, so all lanes have been reopened heading north and south in Maryland.

ORIGINAL POST:

Good morning commuters. We're in for a cooler and potentially wet morning, so expect some rain out there. Check back here throughout the morning for updates on your morning commute.

-- An accident on I-495 South is blocking the left lane at Chain Bridge Road/Route 123.

-- Roadwork on I-95 is blocking two northbound lanes and two southbound lanes between Cherry Hill Road and Sandy Spring Road north of I-95.
