McPherson Square station reopened

Mark Berman

7:40 A.M. UPDATE:

And now the suspicious package has been cleared, so traffic should be getting back to normal, reports D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services. We're still waiting on a callback from them to find out more details and will let you know when we know. The McPherson Square station has fully reopened as well.

7:25 A.M. UPDATE:

The Vermont Avenue entrance remains closed, but the station is up and running. However, street closures remain in place so expect delays around the area.

7:05 A.M. UPDATE:

There is still a police presence around the McPherson Square area, so if you are driving or walking through that area be advised: Traffic cameras show big backups on southbound 14th and 16th streets near I (Eye) and K streets in Northwest, due to the police activity remaining around the McPherson Square Metro station. There are still police cars on the intersections of 15th and H streets as well as 16th and I (Eye) streets.

6:50 A.M. UPDATE:

The McPherson Square station has reopened. Trains are stopping at the station again and the entrance at 14th and I (Eye) streets has reopened, while the Vermont Avenue entrance remains closed, according to Metro.

6:37 A.M. UPDATE:

Due to the police activity at the McPherson Square station, 16th Street is blocked at H Street. The intersections of 15th and H streets and 15th and I (Eye) streets are also blocked. People are also being diverted from McPherson Square.

The McPherson Square station is closed due to a suspicious package outside of the station. Blue and Orange line trains are continuing through the station, but not letting passengers off at this stop. Shuttle bus service has been requested.
