Metrorail work for the weekend

Beginning Friday Metro has several projects scheduled around the rail system that will affect travel on the Red, Orange and Green lines.

Red Line
-- Repair work on the deteriorated platform at Rockville Station continues. Riders traveling between Shady Grove and Twinbrook stations should at least 30 minutes to their travel through closing on Sunday. Trains will be single-tracking.
-- Add at least 20 minutes for travel between New York Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue stations from 10 p.m Friday through closing on Sunday due to track maintenance. Trains will be single-tracking.
-- On Saturday and Sunday Red Line trains will depart approximately every 15 minutes from Shady Grove and Glenmont stations.
-- Trains will operate about every 9 minutes between Grosvenor and New York Avenue stations.

Orange Line
-- Add at least 30 minutes between Stadium-Armory and Cheverly as Metro stabilizes the ground outside Cheverly Station due to the ground shifting. Trains will single-track from 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Saturday.

Green Line
-- Add 20 minutes for travel between Fort Totten and Prince George's Plaza stations. Crews will be welding new rail onto the tracks. Trains will single-track from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Yellow Line trains will operate between Huntington and Mount Vernon Square stations during this time.
