Randolph Rd still blocked in Md.

Mark Berman

1:40 P.M. UPDATE: Traffic cameras show that barricades are still in place as crews remove fallen trees and wires from Randolph Road.

12:30 P.M. UPDATE: According to traffic reports, Randolph Road remains closed between Georgia Avenue and Denley due to downed trees and wires that fell overnight. Eastbound traffic is diverted at Dalewood Drive. Westbound traffic must turn left or right on Georgia Avenue.

8:30 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on the Outer Loop/I-495 South at Leesburg Pike is blocking the right lane and right shoulder.

-- I-95 North is still very, very backed up at the Springfield Intechange.

-- The Inner Loop/I-495 North is also still pretty backed up heading to I-66.

-- And don't forget, Randolph Road is completely blocked between Georgia Avenue and Denley Road in Silver Spring after a tree fell overnight. The roadway isn't expected to reopen until at least noon.
8:10 A.M. UPDATE:

An accident on I-66 East is blocking the left lane at Chain Bridge Road.

7:50 A.M. UPDATE:

Gary Karr let us know that there are big backups on eastbound 267 heading to the Beltway in Virginia. Thanks, Gary!

Remember to send us what you see out there so we can alert your fellow commuters.

7:45 A.M. UPDATE:

U.S. 50 West has reopened at Church Road.

7:30 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on U.S. 50 West is blocking one lane after Church Road.

-- The Inner Loop is very backed up leading to I-66.

-- I-95 North is very, very jammed up as you approach the Springfield Interchange. Expect major delays in that area.

7 A.M. UPDATE:

-- I-95 North is very, very slow in the Woodbridge area.

-- The Inner Loop is also seeing some congestion around Gallows Road.

6:30 A.M. UPDATE:

More on the road closure: Commuters in the Silver Spring area should expect traffic to get backed up on Georgia Avenue approaching Randolph Road. If you're heading north, you could divert onto Veirs Mill Road to avoid backups; if you're heading south, you could cut away on Connecticut Avenue (or Weller Road, if you're trying to stay in that particular vicinity, but that could be congested). This is right down the street from the Glenmont Metro station and Wheaton Senior High School. If you need to get to the school, take Weller Road or Veirs Mill Road over to Connecticut Avenue and get to it from that side.

6:25 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Randolph Road is completely blocked between Georgia Avenue and Denley Road in Silver Spring, the Montgomery County Police report. A tree fell overnight, taking down some wires and damaging a Pepco pole. Pepco is on the scene now. They expect the roadway to be blocked until at least noon.

-- The I-270 North lane has reopened.
