Congestion on I-395 North

Mark Berman

8:30 A.M. UPDATE:

-- A disabled vehicle on I-95 South in Woodbridge is blocking the right lane.

-- I-395 North is still very backed up at the 14th Street Bridge.

8:05 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The accident on the Dulles Toll Road in Reston has been cleared.

-- I-395 North is backed up from King Street on back, but it clears up a bit after King Street -- until you get closer to the 14th Street Bridge, when backups start again.

7:35 A.M. UPDATE:

-- An accident on Dulles Toll Road/VA-267 eastbound near Hunter Mill Road in Reston is blocking the left lane and could cause delays.

-- The accident on I-66 East is now just blocking the shoulder.

-- The Inner Loop/I-495 North is backed up at Gallows Road.

7:10 A.M. UPDATE:

-- Another problem on I-66 East at the Beltway: A disabled vehicle is blocking the left center lane.

-- Considerable backups are building up on I-395 North at the 14th Street Bridge.

6:45 A.M. UPDATE:

-- And now the accident on I-66 East has been cleared, but there's an accident on I-66 West at the Beltway. The right shoulder is blocked.

-- Also, this is a bit far afield, but there's debris on the Bay Bridge. So if you commute out out in that direction, there's that.

6:25 A.M. UPDATE:

Traffic generally backs up on I-66 East at the Beltway. An accident closing the right shoulder of I-66 could add to the delays as the morning rush gets underway.

ORIGINAL POST:

Good morning, commuters! We're in for another cool day, slightly warmer than yesterday, with the slim chance of some showers. Here are some of the headaches, issues or projects afoot that you should know about this morning. This post will be updated throughout the morning rush.

-- A disabled vehicle on I-395 North is blocking the shoulder at Washington Boulevard.

-- Westbound lanes of Interstate 66 at the Dulles Connector Road closed overnight Monday due to Dulles Metrorail construction. The closing was scheduled to start at midnight and end by 5 a.m. this morning.

-- On perpetually-under-construction Ohio Drive, morning rush hour traffic will remain inbound only.

-- Workers are paving lanes of the unfinished Intercounty Connector between Shady Grove Road and I-370 each night through Thursday, weather permitting. Work hours will be 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night. (This western portion of the highway is scheduled to open late this year or early next.)
