VRE opens Metro option for riders

Virginia Railway Express officials expect service on the Manassas Line to return to operate normally this afternoon. However, the rail agency says the Metro option is available for all passengers this afternoon. Passengers can ride Metro for free by presenting their VRE tickets to the station manager. VRE made the option available for Manassas Line passengers Friday morning as Norfolk Southern halted train traffic on all of its lines in five states due to a system signaling failure.
