Delays on Good Hope Rd in SE

By Mark Berman

8:50 A.M. UPDATE:

-- You should still try to avoid the area around Good Hope Road in Southeast (near the merge with Naylor Road). Traffic looks pretty tight on Branch Avenue heading north, but that's still a good option to avoid Good Hope Road.

-- There are now two lanes blocked on U.S. 50 West at Lottsford Vista Road in Bowie.

-- The Inner Loop is backed up approaching S. Van Dorn Street.

-- I-395 North is pretty jammed as you approach the 14th Street Bridge, obviously.

8:25 A.M. UPDATE:

-- With the delays around Good Hope Road in Southeast, we recommend avoiding the area. Your best bet might be heading south to Suitland Parkway -- yes, it'll be congested, but that might be a better option than approaching Good Hope Road. Depending on where you're going, another good option might be taking the long way around (heading to Branch Avenue to the east or Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue to the west).

-- An accident is blocking one lane on U.S. 50 West at Lottsford Vista Road in Bowie.

8:20 A.M. UPDATE:

And now the D.C. Fire and EMS is reporting that there wasn't actually an accident at Good Hope Road and Altamont Place, but it was just a sudden stop. However, there will be traffic issues as emergency vehicles are on the scene. Avoid the area if you can, and expect delays in the vicinity.

8:10 A.M. UPDATE:

The injuries do not appear to be serious, per D.C. Fire and EMS. Still, we'd avoid this area if you can help it, because it might cause traffic issues.

8:05 A.M. UPDATE:

There's an accident at Good Hope Road and Altamont Place in Southeast involving a Metro bus, but no injuries appear to be serious at this time, according to the D.C. Fire and EMS.

7:55 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The accident on I-295 South has been cleared and all roads reopened at Benning Road.

-- The Inner Loop accident after Arena Drive has also been cleared and the lanes reopened.

-- The I-95 North lane has also reopened, but there are still delays heading to the Springfield Interchange.

7:25 A.M. UPDATE:

-- A tractor trailer accident on the Outer Loop is blocking the left shoulder from I-495 South to U.S. 50. Expect potential delays near this exit.

-- An accident on the Inner Loop after Arena Drive is blocking one lane and one of the shoulders.

-- There's also an accident on I-95 North shortly before the Springfield Interchange, blocking the left lane and left shoulder.

7 A.M. UPDATE:

An accident on southbound I-295 at Benning Road is blocking the two left lanes. Expect big delays and avoid the area.

6:45 A.M. UPDATE:

-- I-66 East is very backed up at Chain Bridge Road as well as at Sudley Road.

-- The Inner Loop is congested approaching Gallows Road.

6:15 A.M. UPDATE:

-- The disabled vehicle has been cleared from the Outer Loop at Arlington Boulevard.

-- Now there's a disabled vehicle on the Outer Loop between Arlington Boulevard and Braddock Road.

ORIGINAL POST:
Good morning, commuters! We're in for a sunny and breezy day. Check back here throughout the morning for updates on the headaches awaiting you on the commute.

-- A disabled vehicle on the Outer Loop at Arlington Boulevard is blocking the right shoulder.

-- Road work is blocking the northbound bus lane at 1100 7 Street NW. The lane closure should be over at 6 a.m.

-- As part of the District's reconstruction of the New York Avenue Bridge, the far right lane on eastbound New York Avenue will be closed daily between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. today through Dec. 2. (Except for tomorrow, Veterans Day.)

-- Crews are currently repairing a broken 8-inch water main on Branch Avenue between Pennsylvania and Alabama avenues in Southeast. Traffic isn't impacted, but you might see something while driving through the area, so there you go.
