San Diego's underground railroad
Metro's anticipating an $89 million budget deficit, but along the San Diego-Tijuana border, drug dealers appear to have had no trouble financing their own operational rail system, which carted marijuana along an 1,800-foot tunnel.
The passageway, equipped with lighting, ventilation and a rail system, is one of the few unearthed in recent years that appears to have been fully operational, reported the LA Times. It's unclear how the train was powered.
More than 24 tons of marijuana connected to the tunnel, accessible via a warehouse, was confiscated Tuesday and Wednesday.
